Yoga can be such a healing modality, especially in the field of trauma recovery. Learn the tools and skills you need to bring this practice to your classes, your groups, or to your private clients.

The pre-requisite for our 100 hour certified Trauma Sensitive Yoga program.

Join us for a deep dive into the practice of teaching Trauma Informed Yoga. First, we learn about the mechanics of Trauma. What is trauma? What are the different kinds of trauma disorders? Next, we learn how trauma impacts the brain and body. Finally, we learn how to teach a trauma informed class.

Through these 20 hours you will participate in several different Trauma Informed classes in gentle and vinyasa styles; as well as iRest meditation, EFT/Tapping, and TRE classes.

 

Take a dive into the intersection of Yoga and Ayurveda.

In this training, we will learn about the Panchamaya Kosha system, a way of creating yoga plans to address healing on all levels of the physical, subtle, and karmic bodies.

Study the specifics behind the three doshas and the three gunas as they relate to the practice of Yoga. Then learn and practice pranayama, mantra, mudra, and asana sequenced specifically to meet then balance these energies and bring the body, mind, and spirit back into a sattvic state.

 

Bring your yoga classes into the recovery setting.

What does recovery mean?

How can you bring group classes into a recovery setting?

Join us to discuss the different modalities of recovery settings, and learn basic techniques for holding recovery themed group classes, self-inquiry and svadhyaya practices, and gain valuable trauma informed recovery tools.

 

Part 1 of our final piece to develop your skills as a Trauma Sensitive Yoga Teacher.

In this section, get more familiar with effective modalities in the field of trauma therapy.

Study tapping solutions and emotional freedom techniques, and practice teaching them one on one. Learn trauma appropriate mindfulness and meditation techniques and practice in small group settings. Learn what asanas are and aren’t effective in the work of Trauma Yoga, and how to cue them. Work closely with others to find your voice and refine your skills in the field of Trauma Sensitive Yoga.

 

The final group training to become a Trauma Sensitive Yoga teacher.

This final section will prepare you to take your skills out of the training room and into the trauma setting.

Practice creating yoga plans for individuals using a Panchamayakosha model and appropriate trauma informed techniques.

Practice creating group class plans in different settings and environments. Work in small group teachbacks to polish your skills as a Trauma Sensitive Yoga Teacher.

 

Take your skills out into the world.

In this five hour practicum, you will create and teach a Trauma Sensitive Yoga class to a population of your choosing, and write a brief summary of your experience.

 

Present your experience for feedback and learn from others.

In this five hour mentoring session, you will present your experience to your cohort, receive feedback, and participate in learning about others experiences in the field of Trauma Sensitive Yoga.

After a successful presentation you will be presented with your proof of Trauma Sensitive Yoga Certification!

Jenn Solomon has studied and workshopped with Dr. Bessel van der Kolk (author of “The Body Keeps the Score” and founder of the Trauma Center at the Justice Resource Institute); David Emerson and Dr. Jenn Turner (Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga); Dr. Richard Miller (author of “Integrative Restoration: The Ancient Practice of Yoga Nidra for Easing Stress, Healing Trauma, and Awakening to Your Timeless Presence” and founder of the iRest Program for Healing PTSD); Amy Winetraub (author of “Yoga Skills for Therapists” and founder of the LifeForce Yoga Healing Institute); Dr. Peter Levine (author of “In an Unspoken Voice: How the Body Releases Trauma and Restores Goodness” and founder of Somatic Experiencing Therapy); Dr. Marc Halpern and Dr. Ram Rao (The California College of Ayurveda); The Love Your Brain Foundation, The Prison Yoga Project, and the Center for Trauma and Embodiment. She has studied Holistic Anatomy and Physiology through The Soul of Yoga Therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and Thought Field Therapy (TFT) through the American Institute of Health Care Professionals, is a certified Trauma Sensitive yoga teacher (CYT) through YogaFit’s Warriors program, a certified Meditation & Mindfulness teacher (CMMT) through the School of Positive Transformation, a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) practitioner, an authorized Level 1 Integrative Restoration (iRest) teacher, a Level 1 Yoga for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) teacher, a Yoga Alliance continuing education provider (YACEP), and a Yoga for 12 Step Recovery (Y12SR) leader. She has completed the Principals of Ayurvedic Medicine program at the California College of Ayurveda (AHC), has trained as an Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist (AYS) with Kathryn Templeton, and is a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT).
